ThinWood Guards- How They're Made
Wood pickguards for acoustics are not a new idea and in fact, was embraced by Taylor in 2014, with reintroducing the 800 series, and later by their 600 series . It's a trend I hope continues with other guitar manufactures and Luthiers alike.
ThinWood guards can be set apart as the thinnest, lightest wood pickguard available for acoustic guitars. Fabricated from a single layer of raw wood veneer, they are pressed and reinforced with a layer of epoxy resin on the underside and sanded to 400 grit on the topside. Depending on species they finish at less than .020 inch. They come with high grade double stick adhesive film and a variety of finishes though I highly recommend the natural, oiled finish for ease of maintenance and long lasting beauty.
