ThinWood™ Guards- How They're Finished
- Natural Oiled. I apply Boiled Linseed Oil. It is a natural finish that creates a hardened layer compatible with finger oil and sweat. It is also very easy to refresh and maintain with 0000 steel wool and/or lemon oil. This is the same as common care for the raw wood fingerboards of most acoustic guitars. This particular finish is not vulnerable to the scratching and wear marks that can occur with lacquer or polyurethane.
- Nitrocellulose Lacquer. After our re-location to Eugene, Oregon in June, 2020, I am currently able to resume offering a pro-grade high gloss lacquer finish. Though I offer this option, I qualify with my opinion that Lacquer is not as resilient to wear as the raw wood with an oil finish. But if you have a light touch or plan to display the guitar more than play it, this can be a very nice touch to the look of your guitar.
